For years the answer to “how do I send this tab to my phone?” was the Pushbullet extension. Its Chrome Web Store page now says the item is not available,[1] and the field that’s left is small. I searched the Chrome Web Store on October 18, 2026: besides the options below, the other send-to-phone extensions I found had fewer than 1,000 users each. Here’s what’s worth installing, with the numbers from each listing that day.
First: you may not need an extension
If you use Chrome on your Android phone too, Chrome can already do this. Sign in to Chrome with the same Google Account on both devices, then choose More, then Cast, save, and share, then Send to your devices, or right-click the page or its tab. If notifications are on, your phone shows one and the tab opens in Chrome there.[2] It sends tabs only, not text or files, and only between copies of Chrome on your Google Account.
The extensions compared
| Extension | Users | Last updated | On the phone | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Join | 20,000 | Sep 25, 2026 | Join app | 30-day trial, then $4.99 once |
| Push Go for Pushbullet | 20,000 | Oct 17, 2026 | Pushbullet, through your Pushbullet account | Needs a Pushbullet account |
| Plasma Integration | 600,000 | Apr 1, 2026 | KDE Connect app | Free |
| fwd | Invite only | October 2026 | fwd app | Free |
Join
Join by joaoapps opens a web page on another device, from your computer to your phone or back.[3] It needs Join’s Android app and your Google account, keeps personal data such as SMS on your Google Drive, and can encrypt data end to end if you set a password. After a 30-day trial it costs a one-time $4.99.[3][4] It does much more than tabs, including notifications and SMS, so it suits people who want a Pushbullet-style toolkit.
Push Go for Pushbullet
Push Go is a third-party, open-source client for Pushbullet’s API, not affiliated with Pushbullet. It pushes the current page’s URL, selected text or images from the right-click menu, and signs in with a Pushbullet access token.[5] It’s the way to keep using a Pushbullet account from Chrome. Pushbullet’s Android app is still on Google Play, last updated in August 2025.[6] Read the permissions before giving it an access token to your account.
Plasma Integration, for KDE Plasma
KDE’s Plasma Integration extension adds a right-click entry to links that sends them to your phone through KDE Connect.[7] Most of its users are there for its other Plasma features. It only works with the plasma-browser-integration package from your Linux distribution installed,[8] and KDE Connect needs both devices on the same network, or a VPN.[9] On Plasma it’s free and good; elsewhere it isn’t an option.
fwd
I’m building fwd (pronounced “forward”), and its Chrome extension is the part I use most. It sends links, text and files between your browser and your phone, end-to-end encrypted, with no Google account.
- Sending: the toolbar button or Ctrl+Shift+X (⌘⇧X on a Mac) sends the current page; right-click sends a link, an image or selected text. You can also send a file.
- On the phone: it arrives as a notification with Open and Copy, even if the phone was off when you sent it.
- The other way: share from any Android app to your computer, and click the notification in Chrome to open it, or turn on Open links automatically.
- History: everything you send or receive is searchable on each device.
- Requirements: Chrome 121 or later, or another Chromium browser, and Android 8.0 or later. No iPhone app.
- Availability: a private beta, free; invitations go out to the waitlist in batches.
What happened to the Pushbullet extension?
Chrome disabled Manifest V2 extensions for all users with Chrome 138 in July 2025, and Google removed the remaining ones from the Chrome Web Store on August 31, 2026.[10] Pushbullet hasn’t said what happened to its extension that I could find; the unavailable store page fits that shutdown, but that’s my inference. Which should you install?
If you use Chrome on your phone, try the built-in Send to your devices first. On KDE Plasma, Plasma Integration. If you still have a Pushbullet account, Push Go. If you want Pushbullet’s wider toolkit and don’t mind paying once, Join. If you want links, text and files with a searchable history and no Google account, fwd is built for that; join the waitlist.
