Name

Lower case. Always.

fwd is written in lower case with no punctuation, even at the start of a sentence. It’s pronounced “forward”: say so the first time you mention it.

Logo

The Transit mark is a ring with a dot passing in front of it: whatever you send, caught mid-handoff. Beside it, “fwd” is drawn from Geist Mono SemiBold. Use the white logo on dark or painted grounds and the black one on light grounds.

App icon

Harbour blue.

The app icon is the white mark over the harbour from our paintings, softened into coastal blue and slate. It’s the same tile in Chrome, on Android, on the Mac and on this site. Use it as it is, rounded corners and all.

Colour

Night, and one warm light.

Everything fwd draws is monochrome. The one warm colour is the lamp, the light that carries what you send, so use it sparingly.

fwd lives in painted places, each with a light on. Use them behind fwd’s name or images of the apps, with a dark grade under any words.

fwd sends links, text and files between your own devices, end-to-end encrypted.

fwd (pronounced “forward”) sends links, text and files between your browser, Android phone and Mac. Everything is encrypted on the device that sends it, and only your own devices hold the keys: the service relays data it can’t read. fwd is in private beta on Chrome, Android and macOS.

Please don’t

Keep it as it is.

  • Stretch, rotate or redraw the logo.

  • Colour the ring and the dot differently.

  • Set the mark on a busy or mid-tone ground.

  • Add shadows, glows or outlines.

The wordmark is a drawing, not a font, so don’t retype “fwd” to stand in for it. And please don’t use the logo to suggest that fwd endorses or partners with you.
